FAQs
What do I wear?
I do request my clients dress up to feel and look their best! I recommend neutral/muted colors and no more than one pattern for a smaller group and no more than three for a large group. Choose a color or two and coordinate your outfits around the color. If your outfits clash and you aren’t sure what to do, I would recommend maybe choosing a different color. Burgundy, mustard, burnt orange, dark blue, and sometimes emerald green are popular choices. Be mindful of your surroundings, too much green in the background and then on your clothes can be overwhelming. Other neutral and soft tones are also recommend, like a darker (or light) olive or sea form green, pastels, salmon pink or beige. I recommend staying away from very loud colors, bright red/yellow/green/orange/blues/pinks as they can sometimes overwhelm your photos and draw all the attention to what you are wearing vs. who's in the photos! They can also create an unflattering color glare on your skin. Leave the cargos and ball caps at home! Ha! Kids are also fun to dress up, just keep in mind if it’s too hot, too long or too tight!
I also recommend planning your photoshoot out a few weeks ahead so you will have enough time to coordinate outfits and not be rushed right before! Please feel free to ask for specific recommendations (style guide) for your particular shoot!
What is the turnaround time?
I know your excited! Me too! Turnaround time tends to be about a week, (sometimes less), just depends on the season! Fall/Christmas tends to be the busiest time so it may take longer, but typically no more than 2 weeks.
What if my kids aren’t the most cooperative?
Kids will be kids! I absolutely love candid moments! We’ll get the best ones that we can and it will be ok. You’d be surprised how much you’ll treasure the candid, unplanned pictures! They are only little once, and honestly, it’ll be fun to look back on those pictures later on! I know, we see all the posed, perfect pictures and they are great, but really, if this is the stage your family is in now, and the kiddos just aren’t in the mood, that’s what you're going to want to remember and have a picture to capture. The kids doing what kids do! I mean…. aren’t we always grabbing our phones when they get the flour all over the kitchen when you are making cookies? Or when they jump in the mud, or run in the rain? Those are the moments, that’s real life, it’s your life and its beautiful! I am not, however, responsible for uncooperative kiddos or family members and do not offer refunds in such an event. I am more than happy to reschedule for an additional fee.
What time of day is the best time for a shoot?
I will always say Golden Hour! Most of my shoots are done at that time of day! It’s about an hour or two before the sun goes down, you get this beautiful, soft golden light. I will usually only schedule for golden hour or first light in the morning. I do not offer mid day shoots as the lighting is not the most flattering nor the quality I want to offer my clients.
More questions? That’s ok! Please ask for my client guide or send me an email with your questions!
